Introducing Citroën’s new flagship, the C5 X Crossover which takes the benefits from an estate, saloon and SUV and blends them into this spacious and luxurious executive car.
With this new C5, Citroen are hoping to win over buyers from the saloon and estate category. Especially now the Ford Mondeo and Opel Insignia have been axed.
The Citroen C5 X tries to offer something different, it’s the best of three different worlds. This is quite a long car, it stretches 4.8 meters. That’s 300 mm longer than the C5 Aircross and a fraction bigger than the Volkswagen Passat too. This long length means both driver and rear passengers have excellent leg room.
The C5 X’s exterior design is similar to the new C4 hatchback’s, with an X-shaped slimline lamp graphic feeding into the double-chevron grille. It sits on a set of big 19-inch wheels and has a slightly raised ride height giving the driver a better road view and allowing for easier access in and out of the vehicle.

As for the interior, the new Citroën C5 X boasts extremely comfortable seats, three variable ride settings, an airy cabin and double glazed windows for quiet road journeys. There is also a supersized Head-Up Display projecting information on the windscreen, and of course this car features the latest infotainment system with touchscreen and voice control.
The Citroen C5 X crossover will be available as a plug-in hybrid or with petrol engines. The flagship model is the Hybrid 225 which combines a 180hp 1.6-litre engine with an electric motor. In electric mode the C5 should be good for around 55 km.
Other engine options include a 1.2-litre PureTech three-cylinder unit with 128hp and a 1.6-litre PureTech with 178bhp. All engines will be mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new Citroen C5 X Crossover is out now with prices starting from 32,400 Euros.
